MusicPlay!

“Children are inherently musical.  Play some music or sing a song, and watch how a child responds. It’s instant. Children are so eager to engage in any form of musical play. Play is how a child learns. Music is a natural and effective means of helping a child to learn.” Ms Ginette Atchison, early childhood music specialist.

MusicPlay! and MusicExplore! are group classes catered to children aged 2 to 3 years old.  Through the many interactive and fun activities, our children will learn the basic elements of music. Parents too are encouraged to join their kids as they discover the world of music through play.  This is a weekly group class, 45 minutes in a lesson, 11 lessons in a term, and this is a two terms (six months) programme.  All worksheets and instruments provided.

 

MusicPlay!

  1. Your child will learn about various aspects of music such as pitch, dynamics and tempo through fun listening, singing and visual aids.
  2. One point learning. Every week, your child will learn ONE point. This will help them to remember what they have learnt. (This incorporates the Suzuki approach which also focuses on one point learning.
  3. Your child will learn to apply what he/she has learnt last week and be able to play it on the keyboard or toy piano. E.g. In learning about fast and slow, the teacher will get your child to play Twinkle Twinkle in a fast and slow speed.
  4. Your child will be introduced to music in a high-energy, fun and non-intimidating way, through songs, visual aids, and movement. This will further spur their interest in music.
  5. Develops your child’s listening skills.
  6. Offers your child an opportunity to play the keyboard and other percussion instruments every week.
  7. Each lesson is an opportunity for parent-child bonding and making new friends.

MusicExplore!

  1. MusicExplore! is a prep class to: Group Suzuki piano, individual Suzuki piano, individual Encore piano, individual piano/violin lesson.
  2. Your child will learn about various aspects of music such as pitch, dynamics and tempo through fun listening, singing and visual aids.
  3. Your child will learn how to play with both hands on the keyboard or toy piano.
  4. Your child will learn simple note reading. Some of the songs that they will learn to play: Twinkle Twinkle, Mary had a little lamb, and London Bridge.
  5. Your child will be exposed to different instruments at various points of the course.
  6. Parent is trained to be a ‘home teacher’ to guide the child at home.
  7. There will be a formal recital at the end of the term where parents will get to watch their child perform what they have learnt.
  8. Each lesson is an opportunity for parent-child bonding and making new friends.
